Cut down the time it takes to log your geocaches after a day of caching.

It's fun to go out for a long day of geocaching, but usually less fun after you're home having to sit at your computer for an hour, finding the page for each cache, and going to the log entry page to register your find. Cache Logger Assistant is designed to provide an easier way to access the web pages for logging a large number of caches.

This program will read in a list of GC cache numbers and output a web page with links to the GC page for each one. In the registered version of the program, the output web page also includes information such as the name of the cache, the type, and a direct link to its 'Post a new log' page to simplify logging.* The registered version also allows generation of the cache list from a GPX or LOC file.

 

 

 

 

 

*Note that in order for the direct links to work properly, you must be logged in to your GC account.

Added features of the registered version:

  • Removes the pop-up 'About' window on program start-up
  • Option to enter tracking numbers directly into the program instead of creating a separate text file
  • Option to generate a list from a GPX or LOC file, using the geocache found symbol, both the found and unfound symbol, or any symbol with a name that fits the GC number format
  • Ability to auto-detect the cache list source
  • The program shows its progress as it fetches info on each cache in the list
  • The program results window shows additional information about each cache (e.g. name, owner, size)
  • The HTML output file has additional information (the icon for the cache, its name, size, owner, and a direct link for making a log entry)
  • Optional addition of difficulty and terrain ratings in the HTML output file
  • Allows use of IE, Firefox, Chrome, or a user-defined browser to view the output HTML file; the unregistered version can only use the default browser
  • Adds option of using framed output setup to view results, including a text window to hold a general log entry
  • Ability to make changes to the program settings and save them as the start-up default
